Prof. Ahmed S. Abdoon (National Research Centre in Egypt) was funded to visit the Institute of Animal Science, Bonn University.

Saif Agha received SABRE placement funding for a training period on the project "Genetic modifiers of cholesterol and triglycerol content in pig muscle" in IRTA institute, Lleida, Spain.

Mario Calus (Wageningen UR, Lelystad) was funded to visit Chris Haley and Dirk-Jan de Koning at the Roslin Institute to look at the potential use of Copy Number Variation (CNV) in association studies.

Naomi Duijvesteijn (Institute for Pig Genetics) was funded for an 8 week placement at the Roslin Institute  with Dirk-Jan Dekoning as part of SABRE WP9 (Product Quality).

Ricardo da Fonseca (Federal University of Vicosa, Brazil) was funded to visit Roslin Institute under supervising of Dr Dirk Jan de Koning and the Institute for Pig Genetics (IPG) under supervising of Dr Egbert Knoll.

Nazir A Ganai (SKUAST Kashmir India) recieved a SABRE INCO fellowship to work with the Roslin Biocenter, and with DJ de Koning and Chris Haley of The Roslin Insitute and R(D)SVS of the University of Edinburgh on QTL analysis and mapping.

Christine Große-Brinkhaus (University of Bonn) was funded to visit Århus University/Faculty of Agricultural Sciences/Department of Genetics and Biotechnology in Foulum, as part of SABRE WP 6 (Fertility and Reproduction).

Ina Hulsegge (Animal Sciences Group, Wageningen UR, Lelystad) was funded to visit the University of Aarhus Faculty of Agricultural Sciences for 4 weeks to explore further possibilities to analyze cattle fertility data and extract biological understanding from the available data.

Ivan Dimitrov Ivanov received SABRE placement funding for a stay at the Laboratory of Neurogenetics and Stress, INRA, University of Bordeaux “Victor Segalen”, France with Pierre Mormède (SABRE WP8 Leader).

Jiri Kalina of BIOPHARM was funded to study copy number variation in Avidin, an egg antimicrobial gene at Roslin Institute with Ian Dunn (WP7 Leader).

Omaima M. Kandil of the National Research Center in Egypt was funded to visit the Institute of Animal Science of the University of Bonn for training in molecular techniques (specifically qPCR) and for work in microRNA.

Kati Korhonen (MTT Agrifood Research Finland) was funded for a visit to the University of Bonn to analyze embryo biopsy samples (SABRE WP6), and at the same time learn the qPCR-procedure for small (low RNA/DNA content) samples.

XiangDong Liu (Huazhong Agricultural University) was funded to visit the Faculty of Livestock Genomics I of Parco Tecnologico Padano (PTP) to test the variations of the candidate genes identified by HZAU in PTP samples from pigs with PRRSV infection and in controls.

Xiaofang Liu (China Agricultural University) visited The Roslin Institute for 3 months in 2008, to learn the technologies involved in production of transgenic chickens using lentiviral vectors and to investigate the expression of the chicken SOBP gene in feather follicles of wildtype and silkie chicken embryos.

Beatrice de Montera (INRA, Jouy-en-Josas) was funded to visit the Gene Center of the Ludwig-Maximilian University to study DNA methylation analysis of samples from nuclear transfer cows and twin cows.

Adrianna Pawlik (Polish Academy of Sciences) was funded for a 1 month visit to the Roslin Institute, to receive training in qRT-PCR methods and perform research on lactoferrin gene expression in milk cell samples from Polish cows of various alleles.

Mervi Raty (MTT Agrifood Research Finland) was funded to visit Aarhus University, Foulum to work on dairy cattle fertility.

Natalia Renska (Poznan University of Life Sciences) was funded to visit MTT Agrifood Research Finland (Jokioinen) to work on a qPCR procedure suitable for embryo sample gene expression studies and to learn how to evaluate morphology of bovine embryos during in vitro culture.

Annie Robic (INRA, France) was funded to visit the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (Aas, Norway) and NORSVIN (Hamar, Norway) to genotype Norwegian Landrace and Duroc pigs for one week in December 2008. and to discuss results in 2010.

Dessie Salilew Wondim (University of Bonn) was funded to visit Århus University/Faculty of Agricultural Sciences/Department of Genetics and Biotechnology in Foulum, analyzing transcriptional differences in relation to animal fertility.

Willem Swinkels received SABRE placement funding for a stay at the University of Córdoba where he worked on profiling gene expression of specific gut epithelial cells obtained by laser dissection.

Elena Todorovska was funded to visit ARK-Genomics at The Roslin Institute and R(D)SVS, University of Edinburgh in July 2009. During her visit she learned about SNP genotyping and and microarrays in cattle and chickens.

Gloria Esteso Tornero was funded to visit the Department of Animal Science and Animal Health, Faculty of Life Sciences at the University of Copenhagen for 8 weeks in April-May 2008. Her area of interest was SNP Analysis in the region responsible for Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) F4ab/ac resistance in pigs.

Maria Tuiskula-Haavisto (MTT Agrifood Research Finland) was funded to visit The Roslin Institute, University of Edinburgh to further her work under SABRE WP7 Product Safety.
