
Partner 3 - ASG Lelystad (ASG-L)
ASG-L conducts strategic and applied veterinary, zootechnic and biomedical research. It contributes to improving the health and well-being of both farm and companion animals, to combating animal diseases and to ensuring that animal products are safe and healthy. Integration of the many research disciplines and unique facilities makes ASG-L a leading international research institute. The Institute has expertise in genetics, genomics, microbiology, immunology, physiology, animal health, nutrition, animal welfare and food safety. ASG-L has contacts and joint projects with scientific establishments all over the world. Major clients include Governments, EU, Pharmaceutical Industry, Meat Industry, Breeding Organisations and Food Industry.
Critical mass: Out of the 500 people working at ASG-L, 20 deal with the SABRE disciplines directly and 10 of them are involved in EADGENE and SABRE.
Facilities: ASG-L has excellent facilities designed to accommodate the entire range of (animal) experiments necessary to carry out research on breeding and genetics, functional genomics, infection biology, management, nutrition, product quality and veterinary and biomedical research. It complies with ISO standards and the GLP and Sterlab principles.
Excellence: About 200 refereed publications and several patent applications per year in the area of animal genetics, health and welfare.
