Partner 19 - Lohmann Tierzucht GmbH (LTZ)

LTZ is a premier breeder of laying hens. LTZ has a strong history of supporting research including PhD studies with agriculture and veterinary universities. Previous public funded research projects on poultry diseases have resulted in the development and licensing of vaccines and new methods for poultry selection (genetic improvement). LTZ carries out research in genetics, QTL analysis and marker assisted selection on its own research farms and at public owned institutes in Europe on topics such as osteoporosis (DEFRA Genetic and nutritional solutions to osteoporosis in hens, feather pecking(FAIR-CT97-3576), egg taint and eggshell quality (Eggdefence QLRT-2001-01606). Lohmann Tierzucht will provide access to pedigree lines of laying hens with extensive pedigree phenotypes.
