Partner 26 - BioBest Laboratories Ltd (BBL)

BBL is a virology, cell culture and molecular diagnostics company. The majority of BBL’s assays are developed and validated in-house and the principal techniques employed are serology (ELISAs and virus neutralisation tests), virus isolation and PCR. BBL’s strength is derived from its know-how in cell and virus culture and molecular biology. This allows BBL to both offer routine tests at competitive prices and develop new tests where no suitable or cost-effective system currently exists. BBL provides diagnostic services for farm and companion animals receiving samples through the UK’s clinical pathology laboratories, veterinary practices, pharmaceutical companies and animal owners. It also provides GLP-compliant laboratory support for safety and efficacy studies for vaccine manufacturers and contract research companies. BBL operates a cattle health scheme directly to farmers providing accreditation for disease free status and also provides disease and genetic testing services for pet birds direct to their owners and vets. It is anticipated that BBL will be mostly involved in SABRE in the demonstration activities in regards to the exemplification of diagnostic and other genetic tools.
