The Institute of Animal Breeding belongs to the college of animal science, Zhejiang University. The research group has 4 faculties; the main research field is: study on the genetic characteristic of native pig breeds and chicken breeds, especially for the Jinhua pig and Xianju Chicken. Zju has taken part in the QTL mapping project in Kiel for Dairy Cattle and pig respectively. Now it has established reference population of pig, the crossbred of Jinhua pig with Pietran, and collected growth data and meat quality data of 150 pigs from the F2 generation. ZjU carries out research programs such as high technology foundation program of china and national natural science foundation program of China and also some program from the province Zhejiang and it has taken part in the Special Founds of Major State Basic Research Project lead by Prof. Ning Li. ZjU provides the data from the native population of pig and chicken in its province to SABRE.
